Fees
My fees are based on the current Fee Schedule for Psychotherapists (GOP).
You can review this on the website of the Chamber of Psychotherapists. The following billing pathways are possible:
Private health insurance
In principle, psychotherapy provided by a licensed Psychological Psychotherapist is covered by private health insurance. However, the exact scope of coverage depends on your individual tariff.
Most private insurers cover the initial consultation and up to four additional sessions without prior approval. Ongoing psychotherapy usually requires a formal application. Please check the terms relevant to your policy directly with your insurer. I will of course support you with the application process; insurers typically provide the required forms.
Civil service - Beihilfe
Reimbursement via Beihilfe (civil-service aid) usually works smoothly. However, a formal application is required, and I am happy to assist you with this process. Before starting therapy, please contact your Beihilfe office to confirm the exact conditions for reimbursement of psychotherapeutic treatment.
Statutory health insurance
As a private practice, direct billing with statutory health insurance funds is generally not possible. However, because there are often too few therapists with statutory contracts to cover demand, the so-called reimbursement procedure (Kostenerstattungsverfahren) exists.
This pathway may apply if you cannot find a therapy place within a reasonable waiting time and distance. In that case, you can apply for reimbursement with your health insurance fund. You will often need proof that you were unable to find a therapist authorized to bill statutory insurance. Please feel free to contact me if you have questions about this process.
Self-pay
Of course, you can also cover the costs of psychotherapy yourself. In this case, unlike treatment billed through your health insurer, no diagnosis has to be submitted to your insurer. This can be advantageous if you are pursuing civil-servant status, planning to switch to private health insurance, or applying for life or occupational disability insurance.
Psychological counseling and coaching are generally not covered by health insurance and must always be paid by you directly.
If you self-fund your therapy or coaching, you will receive a private invoice from me.
Freie Heilfürsorge
Psychotherapy costs are covered under freie Heilfürsorge for soldiers and for Federal Police officers (Bundespolizei). For this, you need a referral from a military physician or police physician.
